Mauna Lani Resort is situated within Hawaii’s South Kohala District. Brief history

Mauna Lani Resort was once the ancestral oceanfront home and fishing grounds of Hawaiian monarchs. It was the estate of Francis Hyde I’i Brown, a golf champion and real estate developer who descended from royalty. • The Puako Petroglyph Archaeological Preserve features over 1,200 rock carvings and images depicting sea turtles and dancers. The preserve also features a trail that meanders through a scenic kiawe forest where the trees have sharp thorns.
